Account Manager – Commercial/Agriculture Division
The primary purpose of this position is to provide insurance marketing support to the Account Executives and support the rest of BSI to ensure that we all meet our goals. Some customer interactions may be required. After training and mentoring, this position could become a hybrid role.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Proactively supports management of a book of business by reviewing the client’s exposure and loss history and proposing appropriate coverage and/or solutions
- Preparation of the Underwriting Submissions, Renewal Terms Worksheets, Statement of Values, Binders, and Market Summary Worksheet, Certificates of Insurance
- Negotiates best terms and conditions for all Team clientele with insurers
- Follows BSI policies and procedures, including security and quality procedures as currently set out and as amended from time to time.
- Responds to telephone calls and written inquiries from underwriters in a timely and professional manner
- Requests and follow-up for outstanding items from underwriters
- Places new business as well as renewals and endorsements in a timely and efficient manner
- Issuance of Binders
- Maintains extensive market relationships
- Signing/Authorization of all Binders
- Reviews policy wording and other documentation for accuracy and completeness
- The signing of all Policies and Endorsements
- Creates and follows up on Abeyances for all insurance market-related items
- Completion of Annual Adjustments (stocks, Receipts)
- Participates in industry functions and targeted public relations activities
- Working with the sales force to ensure information to meet the insurer’s requirements is conveyed and submitted
- Ensuring that the sales force receives the relevant support to advise clients of insurers’ needs
- Timely presentation of renewal terms
- Making sure documents are accessible and processing documents in BSI’s Broker Management Software
Skills & Requirements:
- Diploma or post-secondary degree in Business, Administration, Marketing & Sales, or related fields.
- Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) or level two (2) Broker’s license.
- We are willing to train the right individual with a genuine interest in becoming an Account Manager.
- Strong computer skills in MS Office such as Word, Excel, Outlook, Microsoft Teams, and TAM/EPIC. Must have the ability to learn new products and systems frequently.
- Demonstrates strong knowledge of market products, wordings, and technical underwriting.
- High level of judgement and risk assessment with solid attention to detail.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team and individually.
